Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals in Glasgow are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations associated with the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria for Glasgow
Renting a vehicle requires:
- Drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of address must be presented, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Glasgow office. To confirm your booking, a deposit might be necessary. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and signed by both parties. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; refuelling fees will apply if the tank is less than required. Late returns can result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you foresee a delay. You are accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every car rental in Glasgow. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for additional insurance. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms rests with you, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rented Vehicle
- Prohibited uses of the vehicle include any illegal activities, such as racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting to third parties or permitting unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving outside designated geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under Scottish law, Car Hire Glasgow is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by Scottish law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Scottish courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
